Xavier A. Baez is a former gang leader from Miami, Florida. At the age of nine years old, he was introduced to gang life. On his 14th birthday while walking outside his apartment complex, a rival gang noticed him and began to have a dispute. Across the street an allied gang member came to Xavier’s aid and shot the rival gang member on his face. That day Xavier witnessed the true violence of gang life. At the age of 15, he took leadership for the 2nd chapter of the gang called “Bloods” in Miami, Florida. While enjoying the success of his chapter, his cousin was deported for gang relations, which caused the protection of his strongest allied to disappear. Other gangs began to follow him to school, and eventually found where he lived.
Pressure that they would hurt his family he fell in deep depression causing the attempts to commit suicide to escape his troubled life. During all this, his mother was attending a small storefront church. She asked Xavier to join her, but he was resentful. After trying couple of times, he gave in and joined his mother on a Tuesday night bible study. Sitting at the back of the church, the whole time the preacher was speaking about the power of Jesus Christ to change. He was feeling uncomfortable and wanted to step out. At that moment he realized that he could not move his body just his eyes. Scared thinking it was Santeria, he notice a bright light come from the altar directly to him. Penetrating his chest, the first thing Xavier did was cry. He cried until everyone in the church had gone home. That day Xavier A. Baez became a new man.
Introduced to Jesus Christ at the lowest level in Xavier's life, was the best "Life-Saver" he has encountered. He has been saved since 1998 and has been involved in outreach ministry since 2001. The Lord has used Xavier Baez to preach at churches, conferences, camp meetings, and outreach operations like; Lowrider Shows, Chopper Shows, & Music Festivals to bring the lost to Jesus Christ.
In 2007 at the age of 26, he was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel and founded the I.D.D. Family Ministries. That same year he also founded the I.D.D. Family Institute, an agency to assist high-risk juveniles involved in gangs, teen pregnancy, domestic violence, and drug addiction. Xavier is currently the Head Elder of the I.D.D. Family Ministries and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Five Fold Ministries Fellowship, and Walk for Christ Ministries.
In 2009, the evangelistic ministry Xavier Baez Association partnered with the Tent Crusade Ministry of Dr. Wayne C. Gwilliam. The sole purpose of this global ministry is to decree divine salvation in Jesus Christ, bring revival to the churches, and build disciples for outreach operations. Xavier A. Baez is married to his lovely wife Mercy Baez, and has one gorgeous son Xavier Matthew Baez.
